The Birmingham Fibroid Clinic is a pioneering clinic set up by Miss Shirin Irani, Consultant Gynaecologist and Consultant Interventional Radiologist, Dr. Paul Crowe. Between them they have years of experience of treating women with fibroids, one of the commonest gynaecological disorders that can cause pain, heavy periods, pressure symptoms and impaired fertility.

The concept of the Birmingham Fibroid Clinic is to offer consultations in a number of convenient locations around the Midlands and to offer the full range of treatments including minimally invasive cutting edge treatments like uterine artery embolisation (UAE) and MRI guided focused ultrasound ablation (MRgFUS). Our specialists are in a position to give objective advice on which of the many treatments available is the best option in any given case.

Referrals can be accepted from general practitioners or gynaecologists and we welcome direct enquiries from patients (but would suggest a referral is obtained). For patients already under the care of a gynaecologist referral for a particular procedure (such as fibroid embolisation or MRI guided focused ultrasound ablation) can be made directly to Dr. Paul Crowe who will liaise directly with the patient’s existing gynaecologist for follow up if preferred.
